The calculation
Model A fee = the larger of (recovery × commission ÷ 100) or the minimum total fee, plus additional charges.
Model B fee = fixed fee plus additional charges. Retained amount = recovery minus that model’s total fee. Fee difference = Model A total fee minus Model B total fee.
A worked example
For $1,000 of recovery, a 25% commission with no minimum or extras costs $250, leaving $750. A hypothetical $100 fixed fee leaves $900. The $150 fee difference assumes equal recovery and says nothing about the work included. The fixed fee is not a Rivet Rocket quote.
Use the right assumptions
Check whether a minimum is a fee floor or a separate additional charge. This calculator treats it as a floor. Enter additional charges separately. If a contract bills automatic reimbursements, applies credits or uses another structure, reconcile those terms before relying on the scenario.
